Dealer Telecommunications Licence

Dealer Telecommunications Licence (DTL) is issued to a dealer i.e. importers and retailers who intends to import, let for hire, sell, offer or possess for sale of any telecommunications and radiocommunications equipment in Brunei Darussalam.

Submission Requirements

 

Dealer Telecommunication Licence (DTL) application can only be applied by businesses and companies established in Brunei Darussalam.

Applicants must upload the following required documents with their online application:

Sole Proprietor or Partnership

Documents Required


Copy of Smart Identity Card and Passport of Proprietor/Partners
Copy of Sections 16 and 17 forms issued under the Business Names Act

Public / Private Limited Company

Documents Required


Copy of Smart Identity Card and/or Passport (for non-citizen of Brunei) of Director(s)
Copy of Certificate of Incorporation issued under the Companies Act
Copy of Form X and Memorandum and Articles of Association issued under the Companies Act
Copy of Notice of Situation of Registered Office issued under the Companies Act

Application Process

 

The application process to obtain Dealer Telecommunication Licence (DTL) is summarised as:

Applicant will be notified if the application is approved or rejected

Successful applicant pays licence fee through online payment

Dealer Telecommunications Licence issued

All applications must be made through the AITI Online Services.

Complete application submitted will be processed within three (3) working days upon submission.

Fee and Validity

Dealer Telecommunications Licence Fee is charged at BND 100.00 per year and paid in advance. Upon payment, it is non-refundable notwithstanding revocation, termination, cancellation or suspension of the Licence before the expiry date.

The Licence shall be valid for a period  of one (1) year from the date of issuance and the Licence can be renewed for a minimum of one (1) year or up to five (5) years.

Licence renewal application must be submitted and paid at least twenty (20) working days before the expiry date of the licence.

Payments

AITI has permanently closed all its physical counters since March 2020. All customers are advised to make payment through the AITI Online Services (Credit Card or Debit Card) for faster application processing time.

For Cash and Cheque payments, customers are advised to go to the nearest Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) or Baiduri Bank- Cash or Cheque Deposit Machines (CDMs). For alternative means of payment, please contact our Customer Services via:

Please note that AITI will only respond to text and emails during office hours.

However, kindly take note that the DTL application processing time will be longer for this type of payment method as  verification of payment process is required before the issuance of the Dealer Telecommunications Licence.

Application must be made through AITI Online Services Portal using a registered company account.

Complete application submitted will be processed within three (3) working days upon submission.

Foreign entities who wish to apply for Dealer Telecommunications Licences are advised to appoint a local agent (or incorporate a local branch in the case of a private or public limited company) to apply for the Licence. The local agent and/or branch will then be subject to the normal application process.

Your Dealer Telecommuniations Licence will be terminated upon the expiry of the Licence and cannot be renewed. If you wish to acquire a DTL after termination, you must submit a new DTL licence application.
