Brunei Triumphs with Three Awards at the 24th Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2025
Brunei Darussalam proudly achieved international recognition, securing one (1) Winner and two (2) Merit Awards at the 24th Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2025. The prestigious competition, hosted in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei, from 4 to 8 December 2025, by the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), saw Brunei Darussalam competing against 206 teams from twelve member economies.
Brunei Darussalam’s six representative teams, all winners of the recent BICTA 2025 competition, competed across seven categories, demonstrating the nation’s rising capabilities in technological innovation.

Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan’s product, DualFarm AI, is a pioneering smart agriculture solution that enables simultaneous crop cultivation and clean electricity generation through embedded earth batteries in each plant bed.

The Bright Buddies 49 by Sekolah Rendah Lambak Kanan Jln 49, C3, is an educational quiz game thoughtfully designed to support the learning and developmental needs of children with Autism. Its purpose is to promote engagement, literacy, cognitive skills, and comprehension through interactive play in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment.

Universiti Teknologi Brunei’s PyschoBoard offers a compact, all-in-one trainer that integrates essential components, ESP32, Arduino Nano, Arduino Uno R3, Raspberry Pi Pico, along with sensors like the MPU6050, DHT11, ultrasonic sensor, LDR, LoRa E32, ESP-01, and interfaces such as LCDs, buzzer, LEDs, and push buttons—into a single custom PCB. Students wire the board based on structured modules, encouraging active, hands-on learning suitable for secondary schools, vocational colleges, universities, and is ideal for prototyping environments.
The Brunei Darussalam delegation, led by Pengiran Sarimah binti Pengiran Haji Abdul Latiff, Chairwoman of InfoCom Federation Brunei (IFB) as Brunei Darussalam’s Executive Committee (ExCo) member in APICTA, and comprising APICTA advisory judge, judges, ExCo members and six participating teams, returned to a warm reception at the Brunei International Airport.
Present to welcome the APICTA Awards 2025 Winner and Merit award recipients as well as the rest of the delegation were Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications; Awang Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC); Haji Mohammad Salihin bin Haji Aspar, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Transport), MTIC; Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar, Chief Executive, AITI; Dr Eddy Fazlin bin Haji Amdan, Acting Director of Schools, Ministry of Education (MOE); senior officers from MTIC, MOE, and AITI, and members of IFB. The delegation was welcomed with a Doa Kesyukuran led by Awang Haji Mohammad Ashraf bin Haji Bujang, Imam of the Brunei International Airport Surau.
Throughout the competition period, APICTA participants took part in intensive judging sessions evaluated by a panel of international ICT industry experts, members of academia, and government representatives.
In addition to the competition, Brunei Darussalam’s Industry Category participants, SPI Sdn Bhd with their product Direct-to-Satellite IOT Platform, and WilkGames with Tikus Tales had the opportunity to showcase and network during the TechBridge Expo & Matchmaking Day held on 6 December 2025.
Brunei Darussalam’s consistent participation in the APICTA since 2008 emphasises a key national initiative to develop the ICT sector by encouraging individuals, students and businesses to compete and validate their innovations on a global platform. It is hoped that these international awards will strengthen the recipients’ reputation and enhance their productivity, contributing significantly to the nation’s digital future.
