Town Hall Gathers Stakeholders in the Digital Community

The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) today organised the Digital Brunei Stakeholder Town Hall. The event was held at Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja.

Present as the guest of honour was Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications. The event was attended by Permanent Secretaries; Chief Executive of AITI; senior government officials; representatives from the ICT industry; and members of the digital community.

The event began with a Keynote Address delivered by Yang Mulia Ir. Awang Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications as the Head of Digital Economy Council Secretariat. The keynote address shared the current progress of Brunei Darussalam’s ICT landscape and called for collaboration among all stakeholders to work together towards the common goal of driving Brunei Darussalam’s digital transformation.

The event then proceeded with the launch of Digital Brunei Event Calendar by the guest of honour. The event calendar is a platform under Digital Brunei for anyone to discover and showcase digital events such as conferences, exhibitions, workshops, launches, and outreach programmes. The event calendar can be found at www.digitalbrunei.bn/calendar.

The launch was followed by an introductory presentation on Digital Brunei by Nurmajdina Afiah Haji Md Yusuf Thani, AITI’s Corporate Communications Manager and Project Manager of Digital Brunei, highlighting the objectives of Digital Brunei as well as the upcoming activities in the pipeline.

The town hall concluded with a stakeholder discussion session moderated by Allen Lai, Managing Director of Confer Sdn Bhd, where the stakeholders’ digital priorities were discussed.

Digital Brunei is a flagship programme under the Digital Economy Council that aims to build Brunei Darussalam as a country fully embracing innovation and digital technology in today’s age through showcasing innovation and success stories, enhancing digital literacy and basic skills, community engagement and digital inclusion. Digital Brunei is committed to aligning its objectives in achieving the goals of Wawasan Brunei 2035 and support the Digital Economy Masterplan 2025.
