Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration in Ulu Belait
The Ministry of Development, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports held a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration today with the residents of Rumah Panjang Kampung Apak-Apak, Rumah Besar Kampung Sukang, dan Rumah Panjang Julangan Titah Kampung Melilas.
The celebration, a collaborative effort among the three ministries, aimed to strengthen relations and to show the Government’s commitment to offer the government a platform to monitor the well-being of the Ulu Belait residents and review the facilities available to them.
From the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, the celebration was attended by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications; Ir. Haji Muhammad Nazri bin Hj Muhammad Yusuf, Permanent Secretary; Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications); and Haji Mohammad Salihin Bin Haji Aspar, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Transport). Also attending the event were senior officials and staff of Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI), Unified National Networks (UNN) Sdn Bhd, DataStream Digital Sdn Bhd, imagine Sdn Bhd, and Progresif Sdn Bhd.
In collaboration with AITI, UNN recently introduced mobile and fixed services in six (6) locations at Kampung Bang Taong, Kampung Kukub, Kampung Buau, Kampung Biadong Ulu, Kampung Melilas & Kampung Sukang, bringing connectivity and communication to previously underserved areas. This initiative was an effort to bridge the digital divide in rural areas and to empower the communities with access to essential services.
In line with sustainable and green energy practices, the base stations powering these services operate entirely on solar energy, an innovative approach which addresses the challenge of the absence of commercial power in rural areas.
With internet services now available for the convenience of community residents, UNN took the opportunity to demonstrate mobile data speed tests at each location as well as fixed broadband speed test at the base station of Kampung Melilas.
The event was also enlivened with live performances by the communities of each house.
