Coding.bn Cohort 2 Launched

The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) officially launched Cohort 2 of Coding.bn on Monday, 13 February 2023, at a ceremony held at Design and Technology Building, Anggerek Desa.

Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Ir. Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar, Chief Executive of AITI and co-lead of the Manpower Industry Steering Committee Working Group for ICT Sector (MISC-WG ICT). Attending the event were members of the MISC-WG ICT, as well as participants and hosting organisations of Coding.bn Cohort 2.

The event commenced with opening remarks by Norshahrul Nizam Bin Othman, Assistant Chief Executive, Industry Development Group, AITI, followed by an overview of Coding.bn by Md. Nur Aiman Bin Haji Minorhadi, Chief Executive Officer of Grominda Sdn Bhd, as the appointed facilitator for Coding.bn Cohort 2.

Coding.bn, an initiative of AITI and one of the recognised programmes under the MISC-WG ICT, is a six-month programme designed to provide ICT youth jobseekers with in-demand programming skills to make them more employable and industry-ready. The programme aims to bridge the gap between what participants learned during their studies and the demands of the market today. The programme also promotes a well-rounded educational experience that places equal emphasis on technical proficiency, practical experience and professional development for their participants.

Fifty-nine (59) participants have successfully completed Cohort 1 of Coding.bn on 30 September 2021. Upon completion, many have been successfully employed at their hosting companies in programming-related job roles.

In Cohort 2 of the programme, sixty (60) youth jobseekers are targeted to be upskilled in their programming capabilities and other ICT-related competencies to meet industry requirements and boost their potential for employment. During the programme, the participants will undergo three (3) months of intensive learning and three (3) months of on-the-job training with the hosting organisations. The participants will also be mentored by industry experts throughout the programme.

Participating in the programme as the hosting organisations are Activ8 BN, Dossyr Corporation, DotRoot Technologies Sdn Bhd, EVYD Technology Sdn Bhd, InnovAero Sdn bhd, Jerudong Park Country Club Sdn Bhd, Kolej International Graduate Studies (IGS) Brunei Darussalam, LabWorks Digital, Livewire, MenG: Game Company, Network Integrity Assurance Technologies Sdn Bhd (NiAT), Progresif Sdn Bhd, Rumine Corporation, Sphiere Sdn Bhd, Super Squad BN, and Track and Roll Sdn Bhd. Other companies or organisations who are interested to host and potentially hire the talents are also welcomed.
