AITI Offers Exciting Activities at MYCE 2022

In line with the Digital Technology Week’s theme “Digital Technology:  Towards a Transformed a New Norm”, the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) has returned to join Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE) 2022 at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas from 8 to 11 June 2022 and from 9 am to 5 pm.

The event was launched at the central concourse by three esteemed ministers - Yang Berhormat, Pengiran Haji Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC); Yang Berhormat, Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) and Yang Berhormat, Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).  They then toured the exhibition areas and visited the AITI Pavilion.

AITI Pavilion is showcasing its current programmes and initiatives which supports its relentless efforts to accelerate the digital transformation in the country in terms of 5G technology roll-out, manpower development as well as digital empowerment to the MSMEs. 

The 5G showcase shows the development of 5G technology and potential 5G use cases. Visitors will be able to experience educational and entertainment application in virtual reality.  Meanwhile, for those who are interested to enrol in the digital upskilling training programme, they can find out more about the eligibility criteria and the courses offered. AITI has set up MSME Tech Clinic session at its pavilion for MSMEs to seek free technical consultation on adopting digital technologies. Additionally, MSMEs can get the opportunity to apply for a joint funding scheme called PENJANA for deployment of digital solutions in their business applications.

Besides showcasing programmes at the AITI Pavilion, exciting ICT classes have been scheduled to take place from 9 to 10 June 2022, namely:

  1. Code for Fun classes for primary level students in Year 7 and 8 in Sepakat Room 5. The participants will be taught on introductory coding classes using smart devices micro:bit kits; while;
  2. Digital Literacy Classes for Senior Citizens will be held in Sepakat Room 6. The participants will have the opportunity to learn about digital literacy including Microsoft Office, eCommerce and cyber security.

In conjunction with MYCE 2022, AITI will also be hosting the first ever Brunei Content Festival which will commence with an exhibition on 9 and 10 June 2022 at the Perpaduan Hall in ICC.  With an aim to promote local television (TV) and broadcasting content as well as to give recognition to the local content creators, producers, directors, film makers, talents and industry players, the Festival will showcase local features, dramas and short films by the local production houses. The event will conclude with an Awards Night to announce the winners of the Brunei Content Festival Competition 2022 which was opened up recently in May 2022.
