The Authority for Infocommunications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam is a statutory body established on 1 January 2003 through the AITI Order, 2001.

Our Key Responsibilities

Performing regulatory functions for telecommunications and postal systems and services

Development of the local ICT industry

Protection of consumers’ interests by promoting competitive pricing and ensuring quality of services

Management of the national radio-frequency spectrum

Administering and enforcing the Personal Data Protection Order, 2025 (PDPO)

AITI plays three significant roles in driving digital development:

Advisory body

to government on the relevant policy and regulatory frameworks

Facilitator

for its key industry stakeholders to foster collaboration and innovation

Champion

of specific development programme that enable the digital sector to achieve a whole new level of development outcome

This vision embraces the Digital Brunei 2030 vision to signify that AITI complements and contributes to the nation’s collective digital journey - a balanced effort built on the shared responsibility of government, industry, and society to collaborate, innovate, and ensure that no one is left behind.

The mission statement highlights the following key roles that AITI will be playing in the next five years to contribute to the national vision under the Digital Brunei 2030 plan:

  • Turning established digital foundations into widespread adoption and unlocking value across sectors, businesses and individuals.
  • The dual aspects of AITI’s role: Regulatory (trusted) and spurring Industry Development (thriving).
  • The widening of AITI’s role from specific ICT initiatives and foundational connectivity to shaping a resilient, secure, inclusive and future-ready digital ecosystem that underpins Brunei Darussalam’s digitalisation aspirations.
