CyberSecurity Awareness & Internet Etiquette Programme
AITI has been organising a Cyber Security and Internet Etiquette Awareness Programme since 2009 in conjunction with the World Telecommunications and Information Society Day (WTISD).  This Programme consists of a series of seminars targeted for students and teachers of local educational institutions and parents. This program is a collaboration effort between AITI and the Department of Schools under the Ministry of Education.
Its main aim is to educate students, teachers and parents on the importance of three main focus areas: practising safety, security and good ethics when surfing the Internet and doing activities online such as social networking, information retrieval, e-commerce, and connecting with family and friends.
The programme targets largely on students of primary and secondary levels as they are the most vulnerable group and are highly exposed to the Internet.
  • Started in 2009 in conjunction with WTISD 2009 with the theme “Protecting Children in Cyberspace”.  Cyber Safety & Security seminars to parents targeted at 11 Secondary schools and 330 parents.  1sy edition of Cyber Safety & Security booklet published.
  • In July 2011, AITI conducted Cyber Security & Internet Etiquette Awareness in 25 Secondary Schools 7 6 colleges for 4000 students and 330 parents.  IC Citizen Training & Certification was launched in June 2011 which covered basic digital etiquette.
  • From June until November 2012, a series of seminars were conducted in  primary schools in 10 zones nationwide targeting  2,000 students in year 3 – 6 and 200 teachers in 120 schools.
The seminars have been conducted by speakers and trainers from the local training providers.

Cyber Security Awareness Week was launched on 9 November 2012 by the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Minister of Communications.
The objective of Cyber Security Awareness Week was to raise awareness on the importance of information security among Internet users in the country. It was collaboration between AITI, E Government National Centre (EGNC) and ITPSS/ BruCert. It was held in conjunction with APEC TEL’s Cyber Security Awareness Day, which fell on 29 October 2012, and the ASEAN-Japan Government Network Security Awareness raising initiatives.
AITI presented, during the event, an information kit entitled Cyber Safety Tips in dual language, Malay and English. The information kit was distributed to the Ministry of Education and Head of School Zones and Clusters for further distribution to the respective schools and learning institutions.
The event consisted of an exhibition and a series of Cyber Security talks. The exhibition showcased companies that provide ICT related services and security solutions: AITI, ITPSS, Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), Tech One Global, Tek-Modular, hibernator Awake, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), Baiduri Bank and Concepts Computer. Invited speakers presented the series of talks from Cybersecurity Malaysia, RBPF, EGNC and Tech One Global. Besides games, a mascot in the shape of a padlock was featured as part of its promotional activities.
