The Background
iROP was initiated by Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry Brunei Darussalam (AITI) and InfoCom Federation Brunei (IFB) during a discussion in May 2009.
The intention was to bridge the digital divide that exists in the rural areas of Brunei Darussalam. iROP as a brand and AITI owner of the Pilot Project. AITI came up with the idea of using info-communications technology to promote the one product one kampong’ concept initiated by Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) and IFB come up with the training concept.

iROP Business Objectives
· To promote Brunei Made products as a catalyst for Brunei economy diversification.
· To develop entrepreneurs for employment in the Mukims to serve the Kampongs in all the four districts in Brunei Darussalam
· Leverage on the best use of ICT to bridge the digital divide.
· To diversify an e-business channel that is aim to increase demand for e-business Services for the public.
What is inside iROP?
iROP consist of a comprehensive training program to develop IT entrepreneurs to serve the rural community. It is also a Brunei Made products marketing program whereby promoting local products from rural areas are made through web-based technology.
iROP Pilot Project Phase 1
Dewan Belalong located at Bangar, Temburong is nominated as the community centre for the pilot iROP site. Phase 1 of iROP project emphasize on digital literacy curriculum through:
· Establishment of a one stop community centre
· Equipping with ICT facilities with Internet connectivity

· Training courses with IC3 certification for 20 selected participants
