ABOUT NUMBERING MANAGEMENT
As a regulator of the Info-Communication Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam, the Authority for Info-Communication Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) is responsible for numbering resources and the management of the National Numbering Plan. The Plan consists of a set of rules and guidelines for allocating numbers to public telecommunication service provider.

NUMBER APPLICATION PROCESS

The current practice for number applications requires the applicant to write a letter of application to AITI. The content of the letter of application shall include but is not limited to the following:-

• Number category
• Service to be provided by Number

AITI licensees may submit their letter of application directly to AITI, however non licensees will have to apply via one of the Telephone operators.

NUMBER CATEGORIES

In Brunei Darussalam, there are three Number categories:-

Geographic Numbers
Geographic numbers are numbers that consist of digits that indicate the geographical location of the Number. The uses of Geographic Numbers are presently limited to fixed telephony and data services.

Non-Geographic Numbers
Non-geographic numbers are numbers that consist of digits that have no relation to the geographic location of the service provided by the number. There are different categories of Non-Geographic Numbers:-

• Short Codes – (3 and 5 digit numbers)
• Special Number – (5 digit, 1800, 1900, 800, 801 and IP telephony)
• Mobile Number

International Signaling Point Code

About ISPC

An International Signal Point Code is used at the international level for signaling message routing and identification of signaling points. AITI is responsible for assigning and administering the International Signal Point Code in Brunei Darussalam.

AITI is also responsible for notifying to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) of any allocation or withdrawal of ISPCs.

ISPC Assignment Procedure
