The InfoComm Competency Training Program is a program to train the locals in equipping themselves with relevant IT basics, business/administration, multimedia applications and other IT skills in order to create a pool of highly skilled manpower in Brunei Darussalam.
  The program is part of AITI’s vision to provide Brunei Darussalam with a dynamic, innovative and vibrant ICT industry that is anticipative to the needs of the nation and responsive to the challenges of the information era.
  According to Section 6(1)(n) of the AITI Order, 2001 states that one of AITI’s functions is to provide facilities for training and knowledge of ICT
OBJECTIVE
 

• Develop and upgrade SME employees’ ICT skills and knowledge in order to provide them with competitive advantage

• Fulfill the need for better ICT standards in SME’s with high quality ICT training programs

• To identify local ICT experts who are equipped with confidence and skills to contribute effectively to the society.

INFOCOMM COMPETENCY TRAINING FRAMEWORK

ICT LITERACY
 

Introductory ICT courses which are designed for general public who wish to acquire essential basic ICT knowledge and skills in order to keep up with society development.

ICT COMPETENCY
 

Intermediate ICT courses designed for general SME workforce who wish to improve their job performance with necessary ICT knowledge and skills. They can become excellent IT users and more marketable.

Web designing and development courses for both non-IT professionals and IT professionals who wish to acquire e-business knowledge and skills to support the e-business industry.

1. What is the InfoComm Competency Training Program?

  The age limit is 16 years old and above.

4. How can participants benefit from this program?

  AITI is providing 50% - 80 % subsidy to the courses offered at all level.

5. What are the criteria for subsidy?

 

(i) Brunei Citizens or Permanent Resident

(ii) Must pass course exam

(iii) Must attend 75% attendance (if applicable)

(iv) For approved courses only

6. What is the annual target for this program?

  Approximately 200 in the first year and will increase annually.
7. Who will be conducting the IT training courses?
  The IT training courses will be outsourced to accredited training centers by certified trainers.
8. If participant or company wants training in, for example Cisco, does the subsidy include the IT Hardware?
  Subsidy covers the hardware used for training.
9. If a diploma holder and a degree holder are interested to join the InfoComm Competency Training Program, is there a difference in their subsidy?
  No, there is no difference. The difference in subsidy depends on the training course that the participant is taking because each course costs are not the same.
10. Is there a limit on the number of courses a participant can take?
  A participant can take a maximum of 2 courses per year upon completing the previous course.
11. How to register for the program?
  Interested participants can register with AITI. AITI plans to open an online registration which will be implemented in the near future.
12. Is there any registration fee?
  There is no registration fee.

13. Can interested participants register for the program during the Brunei ICT Careers Day?

  There will be no registration on the Brunei ICT Careers Day itself but interested participants are welcome to fill in the InfoComm Competency Training Form. This form is not a registration form.
14. What is the difference between IPA courses and the training courses?
  IPA courses are for government officers and they are free. The InfoComm Competency Training Program is for everybody and it is subsidised.
15. Can government employee enroll in this program?
  Yes, they can enroll for this program but it is not free.
