The Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) participated in TechXpo 2019 from 29 August until 1 September 2019 at the Bridex Hall 2 in Jerudong.  Themed as "Smart Future", AITI's pavilion features smart life in the future through various applications of technologies such as IOT, sensors, Augmented Reality (AR), digital payment and drone. Five local vendors are showcasing their products and services at the AITI's pavilion, namely:

  • Smart Space presented Alexa, a voice-controlled super smart home controller which can be used to control a wide range of smart-home devices such as smart lights, locks, speakers and it can even play your favourite music;
  • InnovAero Sdn Bhd is offering drone training programs and certifications for those who are interested to become professional drone pilots;
  • InTurn displayed a mural which was combined with an Augmented Reality (AR) experience which placed the visitors inside the mural and added them into the storytelling experience;
  • BruPay, a fintech startup introduced their eWallet application where customers can sign on to make purchases without having to bring cash; and
  • Beep Digital Solutions, another fintech start-up company which focuses on digital payment space.  Currently they are providing Alipay payment gateway through "Beep Plus+" for local merchants to take advantage of the growing number of Chinese tourists to Brunei Darussalam.

Apart from the smart future showcase, AITI in collaboration with EduChamp Academy, is also running free coding classes to the youngsters throughout the four-days expo. There are three classes conducted daily which are scheduled at 10.30 to 11.45 am, 2.30 – 3.15pm and 7.00 – 8.15pm.  Primary school students were invited to join the classes where they were taught on how to use scratch, makey-makey and microbit. As the country is forging ahead with Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) and Smart Nation, AITI is proactively promoting the development of digital skills among the youngsters in order to equip them with the new skillsets such as coding for emerging technologies of AI, IoT and Big Data.

The general public are welcome to visit AITI's pavilion to get access to the newest technologies, experience hands on demonstrations and learn the fun ways of coding. There are fun activities where everyone can participate and win great prizes. See you there!
