Local software development and IT consulting firm, Nuara Group, attended the World Summit for Information Society (WSIS) Award Ceremony 2019 on 6 April 2019 after being shortlisted as a WSIS Prize Champion in Geneva, Switzerland.

The WSIS Prizes is a unique international contest to evaluate and recognize individuals, governments, civil society, local, regional and international agencies, research institutions and private-sector companies for outstanding success in implementing development oriented strategies that leverage the power of ICTs as an enabler of the development.

The submission phase, which began on 2 July 2018 to 5 December 2018, received a record number of 1,140 submissions, out of which 1,062 exceptional projects were nominated for WSIS Prizes 2019. From 21 December 2018 to 10 February 2019, over 2 million votes were cast for these projects, and following a comprehensive review by the Expert Group, 90 extraordinary ICT-related projects and initiatives were named as Champions; from here, 18 Winners will be awarded for each of the 18 categories, on April 9th at the WSIS Prizes 2019 Ceremony.

Nuara Group's project, Nuara E2 – Effective and Efficient, was named as Champion and is among the top 5 projects voted in Category 8: ICT Applications/E-Business.

The Nuara E2 project provides a fully customizable yet comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software for SME's. The modular nature of the software, which includes features that range from HR Management to inventory to Sales and Order Management, enables companies to streamline their business operations by providing them with a one-stop solution.

 

Present at the airport to bid Nuara Group farewell was Hjh Ismawati binti Hj Ismail, Acting Assistant Chief Executive at AITI. AITI acted as the focal point and facilitator for Brunei Darussalam's WSIS Prize submissions, after engaging both the public and private sector to submit projects for consideration. This year, a total of 3 projects (from Nuara Group, Mindplus Education and Teleconsult) were submitted from Brunei Darussalam.
